VASER® Lipo Product, Technique and Method
VASER Liposelection is a designer lipo procedure available to patients when seeking ways to achieve a slimmer, trimmer self.
The VASER (vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance) was introduced and launched in the U.K. in September of 2005 by Sound Surgical Technologies, based in Colorado. The technology and technique entered into the cosmetic surgery market as Liposelection®, a new liposuction procedure and fat-reduction method.
The VASER procedure and device use ultrasound energy (vibrating sound waves) to select and break up fat cells before removing them with a cannula or vacuum.
How It Works
VASER liposuction technique shape and contour many areas of the body, including:
- Arms
- Hips
- Chest
- Breasts
- Knees
- Ankles
- Waist
- Stomach
- Chin
- Back
- Buttocks
- Neck
- Thighs
All of these techniques are performed while the patient is under anesthesia, either general or local with light sedation. The VASER technique is much like the other liposuction procedures. The surgeon first injects a saline solution containing a special drug to increase adrenaline in the area, reduce blood flow to the region, shrink blood vessels and limit bleeding. An anesthetic is also introduced to the treatment area (usually a lignocaine/lidocaine) through the tiny incisions. This solution loosens the fatty tissue, which emulsifies the fat and increases the results of the ultrasound system.
The system emits ultrasonic energy waves through tip of the device, which emulsifies or liquefies the fat before it is extracted through the vacuum attached to the VASER-patented probe or cannula. It allows surgeons to get past the vessels and nerve tissues, reach the fatty areas and remove the fat with precision. The special probes have patented grooves allowing the ultrasound energy to emit and distribute evenly from all sides. Surgeons who use the VASER system get refined results and definition when sculpting the arms, neck, chin and inner thighs.
Most patients will have little or no bruising after the surgery. Downtime is minimal and the results are amazing and permanent.
Best Candidates for VASER Liposelection
VASER is not a surgery or treatment for obesity or cellulite. The most suitable patients should be in good health, within a normal weight range, and want to eliminate pockets of stubborn fatty areas around the buttocks, thighs, back, hips, abdomen, knees, neck and chest.
Potential Side Effects and Risks
Although VASER Liposelection is relatively safe, it does have some mild side effects. The most common side effects are temporary bruising, numbness, swelling and tingling sensations. Initially, patients might have minimal fluid drainage from the incision points. As with other lipo surgeries, patients wear compression garments over the treated area for two to six weeks, depending on the areas treated and the amount of fat removed. Ask your doctor about risks associated with VASER surgery.
Warning
People prone to keloid-red, angry, raised scars-or who have a history of problems with wound healing should consult with their doctors before the surgery.
VASER Costs
Costs for VASER Lipo treatment are similar to those of traditional liposuction and depend on the size of the areas being treated and can range from $2,000 to $8,000.
